But you would be suprised at how many children are being tried as adults. As far as my father is concerned they should get adult punishments for adult crimes. *shrugs*

I think that's completely stupid; 17 y/o's cant smoke, drink, vote, etc. so why the hell should they be tried as adults if they commit something even as small as a misdemeanor? Oy, the government system is screwing up big time.

2004-11-01 [Lost in Illusions]: I think the drinking age should be lowered to something like 16. Younger people drink only because they think they cant, and they know it's illegal. They do it to rebel, so if we lowered the age, yes, people would still be drinking at 16, but there would be a lot less people drinking just for the sake of rebelling. This was actually the thesis of an A paper I wrote ^_^ I smart.
2004-11-01 [HiddenFire]: My parents let me drink and smoke when I was young. They just told me not to do it in public or behind their backs. I could do it as much as I wanted as long as they where there. Guess what? I don't drink or smoke. It's not that big of a deal. Why is that? Because they didn't make it a big deal. I was content with second hand smoke and the occasional drink... granted I don't like beer, I'm all about wiskey, burbon, tequilla, etc... Alchoholism also runs in the family (on both sides) so I'm a little leary of it. I don't want to turn into a social drinker... becuase I am normally a very shy person, but I get... overly "friendly" when under the influence. @.@
2004-11-01 [Avoral]: Yeah, it's about the same here. I drink responsibly mostly because I was allowed to do it. Even so, I didn't drink until I was 18, even though it wouldn't have mattered. But hey, nothing wrong with social drinking, as long as you're not drinking with a bunch of stupid kids who think it makes them "cool." "Overly friendly"... Hehehe...

Next thing you know, same-sex relationships will end up becoming illegal, causing almost 1/3 of America to panic because, though they've lived peacefully in the US for however long they've been alive, their way of love is suddenly illegal and they are being taken under arrest. My God, how stupid is that? Yes, the Bible supposedly says that homosexuality is immoral, but this isnt a question of morality, it's a question of freedom and peaceful civilization. It's like people are saying "LIKE GIRLS OR WE'RE GON' BEAT YOU!!" like they're trying to force people to love the opposite gender, just because it's what is stated in the Bible and socially acceptable. What I try to imply in HF Gay Marriage is mostly that to ban homosexuality or gay marriage for any reason would seriously cut into EVERYONE'S rights. If we pander to one religion, we're looking for touble, because all the other religions are going to be flooding the government demanding that their beliefs be honored as well. Not to mention that it could go as far as the government telling you just how much you're allowed to enjoy sex, what is and is not a deviant sexual practice... etc...
